This photograph has a minimalist and graphic look. The composition is dominated by a weathered white wall with the year ‘1979’ prominently displayed on it in black. Above it is a metal railing and a long, thin pole pointing tightly upwards towards a cloudy, grey sky. The absence of people and the somewhat worn state of the object give the picture a melancholic, timeless feel.
The tight symmetry and limited colour palette enhance the feeling of desolation and a certain nostalgia.
