Pilots sailing from ship to ship at IJmuiden.
Pilot tender Luna en route from ship to ship. And sailing from IJmuiden to ships. I can watch it for hours. She leaves the port of IJmuiden countless times.
Sometimes she goes just off shore to a ship to pick up a pilot. Or she goes far out into the North Sea to take a pilot to a ship. But she always returns to port spectacularly and photogenically.
With a roaring bow wave and a mountain of water behind her. Dancing out of the harbor over the waves of the North Sea.
Raw and the harbor as she is the people who work there. The images I see there I like to photograph because it is art in itself. The harbor is another world. The landscape of the harbor is always changing. The ships the people the landscape it continues to fascinate me.
