About ‘Piaynemo islands in Raja Ampat, Papua’ by Anges van der Logt

Piaynemo in the Fam Islands is a world-famous tourist attraction spread across three villages: Saukabu, Saupapir and Pam. The name Piaynemo itself is a combination of two syllables in the Biak Beteu language of Raja Ampat: Pyai, meaning "strike" or "stomp", and "nemo", meaning "the hilt of a machete or similar". Piaynemo (from the original word "Pyainemo") thus means "stomp" or "stomp" on the hilt of a machete. Based on traditional beliefs, Piaynemo serves as a stopover for fishermen and sailors who want to repair their machetes and other fishing equipment. Therefore, the Fam Islands community traditionally ensures that ownership of Piaynemo is not transferred to any individual, but solely for the benefit of the three villages. With this value in mind, the younger generation of the Fam Islands uses Piaynemo's resources for educational purposes. This is done through the establishment of the NGO Pambemuk Education Care, which is charged with managing the assets of Piaynemo Island.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
