About ‘Pharmacy bottles’ by Marja Antonisse

The stories behind the glass

They stand side by side on a quiet wooden shelf: apothecary bottles, each with its own shape, colour and history. They once contained tinctures, herbal extracts and carefully formulated remedies. Their labels, often inscribed in elegant lettering, evoked a time when medicine was still a craft and knowledge of plants was passed down from generation to generation.

These bottles were more than mere utensils. They symbolised trust, craftsmanship and care. Behind each glass bottle lay a quest for relief from pain, restoration of health or simply greater well-being. In historic pharmacies, such bottles were displayed prominently, not only to preserve their contents, but also as a sign of expertise and care.

In this watercolour, the bottles are given a new lease of life. The soft colours and flowing brushstrokes capture not only their form, but also their character. They remind us that beauty often lies in simple objects with a story. A collection of glass, light and memories — an ode to craftsmanship, curiosity and the art of preservation.

One of my favourite hobbies is painting watercolours. I often paint pictures based on photographs I’ve taken whilst on holiday. That’s how I bring lovely memories back to life on paper. I not only really enjoy painting with watercolours, but I also find it wonderfully relaxing. It brings me peace, creativity and, above all, a great deal of pleasure.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
