A unique road to the island, accessible only at low tide and flooded at high tide! The Passage du Gois is a 4.2 km road that connects Noirmoutier to the mainland. Half of the time the road is invisible. It is the longest road in Europe that is completely flooded by the sea at high tide. The crossing is an amazing experience! Follow the road to Beauvoir-sur-Mer or stop to search for mussels, oysters and cockles. The Passge de Gois, besides being a sight for tourists, is also a real attraction for birds, which feed on the shellfish here. Since 1971, there is also a bridge connecting the island to the mainland.
