The botanical garden in the Sicilian capital Palermo has probably one of the largest collections of cacti in Europe. Cacti in magical shapes as well as colourful flowers can be found in this fairytale garden. Numerous species of plants, flowers and trees grow here. Huge greenhouses invite you to linger, where exotic flower forms appear. In the spring-like light of the extensive garden landscape, an extensive walk is worthwhile. Here, perfect respite from the otherwise bustling Sicilian capital of Palermo is offered on the gorgeous, southern Italian island.
This photographic image was exposed with the Nikon D80 and was taken during my Easter trip in April 2002. Avenues of palm trees, giant trees, extensive seas of cacti and flowers as well as a unique plant world immerse the visitor in an enchanting oasis of tranquillity. The perfect place to unwind and take in the smell of fantastic flowers and blossoms. The island of Sicily captivates with its unique urban landscapes and Mediterranean nature.
