On the Baltic Sea beach of Heringsdorf on the Baltic Sea island of Usedom, the fishing cutter Seeschwalbe lay on the beach ready for the next fishing trip. Heringsdorf is one of the three German imperial spas, which also include Bansin and Ahlbeck. There is no harbor here, so the beaching method, i.e. stranding, of the cutters loaded with the catch is done on the sandy beach. To do this, the cutter is pulled out of the water with a tractor.
The day the subject was photographed was on an October day last year. That day the beach was almost deserted. The wind blew slightly offshore with pleasant autumn temperatures. One could almost say that it was pleasantly warm. And so the photograph shines pleasantly on the viewer. You can't get away from this aged wooden cutter, sea and sky in the background.
The up to 70 meters wide, fine sandy beach on the Usedom Baltic Sea coast stretches forty-two kilometers from Peenemünde to Swinemünde in Poland. For many people, this beach is a place of longing that one can always remember when looking at the work of art. They are warm and benevolent emotions that feel like summer, sun, sand and holidays.
