About ‘Old fortified city’ by Martine Moens

Aardenburg is a fortified town, characterized by ramparts of various ages. The oldest rampart is medieval. Between 1583 and 1604, the Spanish occupiers built ramparts in front of and along these walls. In 1604 the city came into State hands.
Aardenburg green culture city' has been a household name in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen for years. Dutch and foreign guests know how to find our town when it comes to beautiful Bach music, remarkable art exhibitions or literary activities. We also have numerous art galleries, the Koninklijke Muzieksociëteit Aardenburgse Fanfare
- our local pride and joy - and last but not least various walking routes where culture and nature pleasantly meet. As a culture lover you will always find something to your liking in Aardenburg.
