Nude Girl, Seated, Vincent van Gogh
This little girl made a rather awkward model. Van Gogh painted her in the Paris atelier of Fernand Cormon (1845-1924) while taking painting lessons there for about three months.
He painted her by the method he had learned at the academy. First, he applied a greenish-grey underlayer. Then he covered it with thin layers of paint, going from dark to light. Finally, he added dark accents to the shadows.
