This is Ørsdalsvatnet in Norway, taken from the south-east side, looking towards the village of Ørsdal at the end (about 15km) of the lake. The first houses of this village are visible on the horizon.
This unedited photo was taken right after supping across the middle of the lake with water that is clear but at the same time tremendously dark. The mountains reflect faintly in the water over which a gentle ripple undulates. The blue sky reflects the same colour in the water and even colours the mountains in the background. The dark mountains in the foreground form a nice contrast to the lighter background.
No roads run around the lake, making it a pristine piece of nature where you can imagine yourself alone in the world.
Judging by how steeply the mountains slope down to the water's edge, you know the lake must be deep. With a depth of almost 250 metres, it therefore has something ominous about it.
In the foreground, part of a jetty is visible with a withered tree trunk with branches emerging from the water.
The picture exudes coolness, calm and serenity, while the light waves give it a calm dynamic. An image you can look at and feel totally Zen about.
