A drawing made with washed out watercolor pencil. It depicts a dragon ship with early medieval Frisians fleeing their newly Christianized country. They were looking for a new land where they could still practice and pass on their own faith, this they could no longer do in their own country. The sea god Njord brought them to the Faroe Islands. There is evidence of the connection between these islands and Friesland. The name could mean faar oer or vaar over, referring to this journey. A fascinating piece of history in any case. The serpent Jörmundandr, the midget snake can be spotted in the distance and the sun finally breaks through after a stormy journey. A record full of thrills and also hope.
