The Nile crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) is a crocodile from the family real crocodiles (Crocodylidae). The Nile crocodile is the largest of the four species of crocodile found in Africa and can reach a length of 6.2 metres and a weight of over 700 kilos. Because this crocodile has a large distribution area and is fairly common, a lot of research has been done into the species and its biology, ecology and way of life have been described in detail.
