The Neuschwanstein Castle of the Bavarian Palace Department is located above Hohenschwangau near Füssen in the eastern Allgäu in southern Bavaria. It was built in 1869 for the Bavarian King Ludwig II as an idealized idea of a knight's castle from the Middle Ages.
Neuschwanstein is one of the most famous sights in Germany and the most famous of the castles of Ludwig II. Approximately 1.5 million tourists visit the building, which is often referred to as the "fairytale castle".
The picture shows the southern side of the castle at sunrise in summer from the Marienbrücke.
It was a lovely, albeit very windy, summer morning in August and it was really nice to be there all alone before the masses stormed the bridge. Who was there in the afternoon, knows what I mean ... ;-) Only after sunrise, the first visitors came and so I was able to take some pictures in peace.
