Neist Point is one of Scotland's most famous lighthouses and can be found on the westernmost tip of the Isle of Skye. The more than 2 km walk along a mostly concrete path (quite steep at times), offers beautiful views and also views of the lighthouse.
Neist Point Lighthouse was built in 1900. At the time, it was still a manned lighthouse. Today, it uses an automated light system. The light is 43 metres above sea level and can be seen up to 16 nautical miles offshore.
The keeper's cottages surrounding the main tower are now privately owned and for a few years were used as holiday rentals, but lately this does not seem to be the case anymore.
