About ‘My Valentine’ by Iris van Heusden

On his hind legs, the little dog looks up at the heart-shaped balloon floating through the winter air Who lost it? It must have been a gesture of love. In the misty meadow, the bare tree stands with its drooping branches, silent and waiting, as the cold envelops the moment.

I am always inspired by the paintings of the Old Masters, I find the atmosphere, colours and light fascinating! I try to emulate this in my photography.

My work is composed of several carefully composed photos'fused into one new image.
This combination makes the work completely original and unavailable anywhere else.
My special editing technique of my photos's makes it seem as if you are looking at a painting.

My name is Iris van Heusden, born in Amsterdam and living in Oirschot. For me, photography is an expression of my creativity. In every photograph I take, I am inspired by the work of the 'Old Masters'. I find the light, the atmosphere shown in their works phenomenal. I try to emulate those. Them brush for me is my camera, and with the processing I apply to the photos, the photo ultimately looks like a painting.
