The Kinderdijk windmills were in the spotlight at the beginning of September during the enchanting Lighting Week. Dream away in a Dutch fairytale landscape, gazing at the shimmering reflection of the illuminated mills on the water.
The Kinderdijk windmills have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997. The 19 windmills are divided into a row of eight windmills on the Nederwaard (these are the round stone mills), a row of eight reed-covered octopuses on the Overwaard, with a wipmill next to it; the Blokweerse mill that bleeds the polder Blokweer and in the polder Nieuw-Lekkerland two thatched eight-sided mills.
