De Molen van de Polder Westbroek is beautifully situated between Oud-Zuilen and Maarssen. Next to the windmill is the Molen van de Polder Buitenweg (it burned down in 2016 and will be restored in 2017). Together they form a striking company on the Zuilense Ring. The Molen van de Polder Westbroek is the largest in the province. It has fled a distance of almost 28 meters. The Molen van de Polder Buitenweg is the smallest in the province.
The predecessor of the present Molen van de Polder Westbroek was located right next to the river Vecht and was moved a few hundred meters by order of the Gedeputeerde Staten (Provincial Executive) because the rotating sails frightened passers-by. Until 1946 the mill independently drained the polder, nowadays it serves as an auxiliary pumping station. After the war, the mill was equipped with a diesel pumping station that did its job with jerks and jerks. In 1971, a new electric pumping station was put into operation. In 1983, the shovel wheel was replaced by an auger with a special drive. In 2003 the interior was restored by the voluntary millers. Between the two mills there is a monumental lockcomple
