The Mauritshuis houses the Royal Cabinet of Paintings and is a museum in The Hague with mainly paintings from the Golden Age. It also houses some top works from the 18th century. The now privatised and relatively small museum has a world-renowned collection of a total of 800 paintings, which are well displayed in the extraordinary interior. The building's architecture has been imitated many times. The building on the Hofvijver is owned by the state (Rijksgebouwendienst) and is among the 'Top 100 of the Rijksdienst voor de Monumentenzorg' from 1990.
