The Matterhorn (Italian: Monte Cervino or Cervino, French: Mont Cervin or Le Cervin, Valaisan: Hore or Horu) is one of the highest mountains in the Alps, at 4478 metres above sea level. Because of its distinctive shape and its history of climbing, the Matterhorn is one of the most famous mountains in the world. For Switzerland it is a landmark and one of the most photographed tourist attractions.
