When I spotted this little woodland scene with a stream filled almost organic shapes of green in it and oak trees on the banks, I was mesmerized. The ferns looked so lush and green and the background was a much duller, darker green, which created depth to the image. I grabbed my sharpest lens and made this image. I first made a horizontal composition, but it was quite obvious that this needed to be a vertical photograph. It is by far my favourite image of 2021, because this shows the magical side of reality. It looks like a little patch of paradise.
