In the trade this fish is called Lumpfish. The eggs are sold as fake caviar. The fish itself is not fit for consumption. In the diving mouth we call them Lumpsuckers. This is a male in beautiful spawning colors. Males look for a suitable nest and wait for a female to come along. When the eggs are deposited, the female disappears again and the male takes care of the eggs until they hatch. Lumpsuckers only come to shallow waters in winter, after that they disappear into the depths again. It is a pity that so many females are slaughtered because of the fake caviar. It brings the survival of these beautiful animals in danger.
