Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

About ‘Ludolf Bakhuysen. Choppy sea with ships’

Marine painter and etcher Ludolf Bakhuysen (1630-1708) was born in Emden, Germany, and came to Amsterdam in 1649. There, he learned his trade from landscape painter Allart van Everdingen and marine painter Hendrick Dubbels. His work also shows strong influence of the marine painter Willem van de Velde I. Apart from harbour views and ship portraits, Bakhuysen painted many dramatic, stormy seascapes and shipwrecks. It was said of him that he often took to the water in bad weather to study weather effects closely. He also depicted numerous incidents in Dutch maritime history. After father and son Van de Velde left for England around 1672, Bakhuysen was one of the last and most important painters in this genre.
