A lone tree in the middle of the desert. The tree stands among ht sand in the Sahara desert, in the Adrar region of Mauritania, West Africa. There was no one to be seen in the area. Consequently, the Sahara is very large and very few people live there.... The photo is done in black and white so that the focus goes to the tree. The desert consists of sand, sand dunes, rock formations, stones, nature and a village here and there. The landscape looks very desolate. The conditions are also unsustainable for humans. It can get very hot during the day and very cold at night. It also depends on the season. We were there in November. Then it is no longer very hot during the day, but still far too hot for us. In Mauritania, you don't come across many tourists. The area can also only be travelled by jeep because you often drive off-the-road. Roads are not always there. That does make it adventurous. When you come across a tree in the middle of the sand, it is quite special.
