The Netherlands has some insanely beautiful countryside, and the Veluwezoom near Arnhem is just such a place. In autumn it is absolutely beautiful. Last weekend I was there early to photograph, hoping to spot wildlife such as red deer. But then I came across this spot, one of the few hairpin bends the Netherlands has, that's how steep it is there. I thought it was a beautiful point but I was still missing something, and then early on a mountain biker came along and that completed the picture.
Cycling at the Posbank is a popular activity thanks to the varied and hilly landscape. The area offers routes for recreational cyclists, cyclists and mountain bikers, each with their own unique challenges and views. Recreational cyclists can enjoy scenic routes such as the Veluwezoom route and the Rondje Posbank, which take you through vast heathlands, dense forests and past sand drifts. Cyclists are challenged by steep climbs and fast descents on routes such as the Arnhem-Posbank Loop and the Giro di Posbank.
What makes cycling in this area so special is the breathtaking nature you encounter along the way. The Posbank is known for its blooming heathlands, especially in late summer when the landscape is covered in a sea of purple flowers. You may also come across wild horses, such as Exmoor ponies and Scottish Highlanders that help keep the landscape open. In addition, the forests offer peace and coolness, while the open fields and sand drifts give a sense of space and freedom.
