Late sunlight on Delicate Arch, Utah.
Nowhere else in the world are there so many natural rocky arches as within the boundaries of Arches National Park. In addition to the arches, the park also has many other irregularly shaped rock formations. A large part of the park is easily accessible by car or via an 18 mile long road. There are several hiking trails, but there are also areas that you can only see after making a long trek.
Arches National Park is a relatively small national park near Moab in the east of the American state of Utah. There are several walks (trails) in the park. There is also a visitor centre.
Arches National Park is famous for its many impressive rock formations and balancing rocks such as the Courthouse Towers, Windows Section, Fiery Furnace, Devils Garden, Klondike Bluffs and the Balanced Rock. There are over 2000 documented natural bridges (arches), including the Landscape Arch, Double Arch, Double O Arch and Delicate Arch. The smallest arches have an opening of barely one metre, while the distance between the supports of the largest arch (the Landscape Arch) is 88.4 metres.
In the north of the park is an area called the Devil's Garden. Here is an 11-kilometre-long footpath along which a number of arches can be reached.
