Tips for use
  • Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
  • Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
  • Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
  • The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
  • Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

Landscape with a Horse, Paul Gauguin (1899)

Paul Gauguin traveled to the French colony of Tahiti in the 1890s in search of an unspoilt Eden and a counterpoint to the decadence and spiritual bankruptcy of European civilization. He became fascinated by the lush tropical landscape of the island; here he paints a group of huts and a single wild horse against a range of distant, looming mountains. Gauguin employs his trademark areas of flat, arbitrary color for decorative effect while his rough burlap canvas creates an intentionally unrefined paint surface.
