Landmannalaugar means 'hot springs in the land of the people of Land' (an area around the town of Hella).
Landmannalaugar is a valley in Iceland's interior, east of the famous Hekla volcano.
The valley is lava-covered and surrounded by yellow, brown red, green and grey-blue rhyolite mountains.
A characteristic of this rock is that already a little sunlight makes the mountains light up, so to speak, which often makes them look very "bright".
