About ‘La Vie en age d'Or et Carton’ by Ruud van Koningsbrugge

Colourful patchwork composed of snippets of packaging material. Using prints from food boxes, a composition of snippets with partly readable and recognisable advertisement texts was made. Around the portrait, after a self-portrait of Carel Fabricius, images of delft blue, fish and other ornaments have been added. The patchwork is partly physical, created with scissors and cardboard, but also digital. The work invites one to explore recognisable details. The large quantity and diversity of packaging show excessive prosperity, while the use of this material seen as waste as a medium for art shows how little is needed to create art.

Retired teacher practice (technique, wood, reproduction) for people with intellectual disabilities and part time artist. Own work consists of a rich collection of objects, usually made from recycled material, usually seen as waste. The own website work shows work from bicycle tires, plastic bottles, packaging cardboard and more.
The subject of the work often has a direct relationship with the material.
