Threatening skies above the Kreuzberg chapel on the edge of the German Winterberg.
The Holy Cross Chapel, also known as the Kreuzberg Chapel, was built on the top of the Kreuzberg in 1818. Until 2007 this chapel was hardly known, even by the people in the region. This was because the chapel was located in the woods and therefore invisible to the surrounding area. Until January 2007 the hurricane Kyrill kept a firm hold on the region. Almost the entire forest on and around the Kreuzberg was razed to the ground by the hurricane. The chapel survived the hurricane without too much serious damage. Since then the chapel is clearly visible from the wide surroundings
