Here is another picture of one of my "alttime favourite" bird, the Kingfisher.
Just can't get enough of this bird. What matters I don't quite know. Is it their tropical colours combined with their rather cool name, as far as in Dutch and German goes!? Their English name "Kingfisher" also very much honours this bird, and it also remains amazing what size of fish they seemingly effortlessly slip down their throats. That they don't exactly handle it gently before the fish slides in head-first, doesn't really suit such an endearing looking bird.
This time it is a beautiful adult male which is nicely coloured, especially noting its beautiful orange legs.
This male was mainly busy chasing off younger conspecifics, most probably his own offspring as well.
I'm not going to promise you that this will be my last "Kingfisher contribution" at "Work on the Wall", because it certainly isn't.
