Frías is a town in the Spanish province of Burgos in the Castilla y León region.
Frías Castle, officially the Castle of the Dukes of Frías and also called Castle Velasco, is located in the town of Frías in the north of the province of Burgos in Castilla y León (Spain).
It is located on the La Muela rock, around which the urban framework of the city of Frías is developing. From its privileged location, it controls the Tobalina valley and the passage of the Ebro river via the also fortified bridge that lies at its feet. This is one of the main routes that historically linked the Castilian plateau to the Cantabrian coast.
It is considered one of the most spectacular rock castles in Castile.
José Cândido Dominguez Alvarez (Porto, 23 February 1906 - Porto, 12 April 1942), was a painter of second Portuguese modernism.
The son of a Portuguese man of Galician descent and a Galician woman from Pontevedra, Dominguez Alvarez was born in Porto in 1906 and acquired Portuguese citizenship in 1936 to escape the Spanish Civil War.
At the heart of Dominguez Alvarez's painting is "a naivety of shapes and colours" driven by an unusual intuition.
