About the artwork

"Tracks and traffic" by James Edward Hervey MacDonald, painted in 1912, shows an industrial winter landscape. The foreground is littered with snow and planks, while a railway track runs through the painting. A steam locomotive puffs out of the tracks, with large clouds of smoke and steam dominating the middle ground. The background consists of industrial buildings and chimneys that also emit smoke, adding to the atmosphere of industrial activity.

The painting captures the harsh, cold environment of the industrial era, contrasting the natural snow with man-made structures and machinery. The muted colours and rendering of smoke and steam create a sense of movement and bustle in industrial life.

James Edward Hervey (J.E.H.) MacDonald RCA (Durham, England, UK 1873-Toronto, Canada 1932) was an Anglo-Canadian artist of Post-Impressionism, best known as a member of the Group of Seven that combined a distinct national identity with a common heritage stemming from early modernism in Europe in the early 20th century.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
