About ‘In the sun’ by Jan van der Knaap

A cormorant drying its wings in the warmth of the sun. They don't do this because they are so hot. They do this after hunting underwater. Their wings do not have a water-repellent layer of fat, so they can then dive deeper. However, their wings do get soaking wet, which is why they are standing with their wings wide open to let them air dry. Meanwhile, they keep a close eye on their surroundings, as wet wings make them more vulnerable. This cormorant is standing on a stump of wood in the water that is often used for this purpose. I often see them standing there. The water is the unnamed pond on the Purmerweg in Purmerend.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
