When taking the photo "In the dark: A shell in the light" I made a picture of a small borer mussel (shell). By letting the light fall well on it, I made sure the Drill Mussel is in the foreground, and the background, which is dark in colour surrounds the shell. The Drill Mussel lies on a layer of material that has a texture, but also reflects equal time. This gives a very nice effect in the ground surface. It looks as if that is where the shell has been painted. This gives a sense of abstraction of the shell.
If you zoom in on the photo, you can see that when taking this picture, I chose to set the camera so that the depth of field in this photo is shallow. This puts all the emphasis on the front of the shell, and the shell (and of course the background) fades the further back you go.
A photo that could, for example, beautifully decorate your bathroom or kitchen on HD Metal!
