Impressionistic view of a number of ships on the river. Oil on hardboard - Pieter Ringoot (1921 -2011)
Painted in 1951, at the age of 30, the scene depicts a number of moored ships on the river. It is not entirely clear where this impressionistic scene is set.
The original work measures about 40 cm high and 30 cm wide. Presumably this work was intended as an idea or study for a later, larger work. After all, Pieter never starts a piece of work unprepared but always made several preliminary studies on different grounds and with different materials.
Galerie Ringoot is a homage to the work of the Belgian painter Pieter Ringoot (1921 - 2011) and the Dutch illustrator, writer and painter Hans Sturris.
