About ‘Hooglandse Kerkgracht in Leiden’ by Peter Bartelings

In the heart of the old center of Leiden lies the Hooglandse Kerkgracht, named after the colossal church that stands on the canal. This work shows part of the (filled in) canal. An old water tap can be seen on the left of the picture. Beyond the crane, a pink updraft bicycle is parked against the low houses with stained glass windows. This work can be ordered in both color and black and white.
About the city of Leiden: Leiden is an old city with much history. The Old Rhine flows through Leiden before emptying into the sea a little further down. Thanks to its cloth industry, Leiden was one of the largest cities in the Northern Netherlands from the late Middle Ages until the 17th century.
