Route 66 neon signs in Seligman, Arizona. State Route 66 (SR 66) is a road surface in the U.S. state of Arizona in the provinces of Mohave and Coconino. In 1914 the road was designated as National Old Trails Highway, but in 1926 it was again designated as US Route 66. In 1985 the American Route 66 was removed from the highway system.
