An overview of Saen Monourom provides a better understanding of the balance between nature and urbanity that characterises this Cambodian town. Surrounded by forests and gentle hills, the main square forms an identifiable focal point, often bustling with the comings and goings of local residents. Public buildings, a few shops and the occasional community gathering or event can be seen here. This square is more than just a crossroads: it is a place of social life, a link between the different ethnic communities of the region, particularly the Bunong. The panorama offers a beautiful harmony of tones: the coloured roofs, the shades of green of the hills, the sky often veiled in the morning by a light mist. It's an invitation to slow down, observe and discover an undiscovered Cambodia, where time seems to stand still. From here, you can make out the paths that lead to waterfalls, coffee plantations and elephant sanctuaries.
