The green tree python (Morelia viridis) is a tree-dwelling snake from the python family (Pythonidae). The green tree python is one of the few snake species that the locals are not afraid of. This is because it is neither venomous nor aggressive. The species is found on New Guinea, the offshore islands and on the Cape York Peninsula in northern Australia.
