About ‘Grazing Nembrotha chamberlaini’ by Enak Cortebeeck

This type of nudibranch was only described for the first time in 1997. And for good reason, they're harder to find. Ironically, this is mainly due to their warning colours. Red is the first colour that disappears due to the selective absorption of light underwater and becomes optically invisible from a depth of 5 metres. Too bad for the hunter who wants to feast on this battle. The warning colours, the invisible too, serve their biological purpose all too well: Don't eat me, I'm poisonous.

Ik werk als regisseur, art director en designer voor film en televisie. Daarnaast reis ik iedere kans die ik krijg de wereld rond met mijn duikgerief en een camera.

Ik zoek vaak naar texturen. De onderwaterwereld is er enorm rijk aan en soms vind je op één vierkante centimeter meer texturen vinden dan op tien vierkante meter bovenwater. Het bevreemdende en stilistische van dit andere universum in onze achtertuin spreekt me enorm aan.
