About the artwork

In 1923 Sartorio reworked two canvases, of which this is one, and changed the content of the scenes to celebrate Italy's participation in the First World War (WW1). The date of the declaration of war to Austria, May 24, 1915, was added to Reawakening and Rite was transformed into a celebration of the victory of November 4, 1918 by adding the date and names of the places where the crucial battles were fought ( the Carso, the Piave and Vittorio Veneto). Painted using photographic images similar to those of Eadweard Muybridge, the draped nudes give a strong sense of movement and resemble parliamentary frieze in style and composition.
On the artwork a number of figures are depicted naked. Most of the boys are completely naked, like one girl who can be seen on the back, which results in a lot of bare backs and buttocks. Furthermore, the women are draped in a dress, except for one which is depicted topless.
Giulio Aristide Sartorio (11 February 1860 - 3 October 1932) was an Italian painter and film director from Rome.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
