This work is called 'Framed Memories' and is an artwork that explores the symbolism of framing animals. The artist wants us to think about the value we place on art and old paintings, and how that value would change if, in the future, we only knew animals from a picture. Would we then also be willing to pay a lot of money for a framed animal?
This work incorporates old masters into a new story, including the artist's fear that in the near future, children will no longer go to a zoo to see and learn to recognise animals, but will have to visit a museum instead.
The work calls for awareness of the threat humanity poses to biodiversity and the beauty of nature. It is a cry for action to protect and respect animals before they become mere memories.
This work is a true challenge to the mind and demands responsibility.
