The vosmangoose - also known as red meerkat - is found on the open plains, such as deserts and grasslands, in Africa. There they dig extensive burrowing systems. Such a burrow can cover as much as fifty square meters and the burrows are about one and a half meters deep. There are sometimes forty entrances, so that there is always one nearby in case of danger. Everything has been thought of in the burrow; there is even a toilet and a baby room.
