Four cairns (or are there six?), next to the bay of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.
Stacking stones is probably one of the oldest art forms of mankind. In Iceland, these small sculptures, also stone men, were and are often used to mark a path through the rugged interior. But just as often they have no such function and the stones are simply stacked for fun. As here on Saebraut, a busy road in downtown Reykjavik. With the waters of the Kollafjörður River and the snow-capped mountains behind it, nothing in this photo indicates the hustle and bustle of the city.
