About ‘Fortress Cochem’ by Thijs Bomers
The Reichsburg Cochem is a mountain castle in Cochem, Germany. This beautiful imperial castle lies 100 metres above the town and served as a toll castle in the Middle Ages. The castle was founded around the year 1100. Destroyed by the French in 1689, it was then rebuilt by Louis Fréderic Jacques Ravené in the fashion of Romanticism.
