About ‘Fort Sint Pieter (Saint Peter’s Fortress)’ by Ronald Smeets Photography

16th century fortress on the south side of the city of Maastricht. Built on the north slope of the Sint-Pietersberg, it served to defend the southern ramparts around the city of Maastricht (but eventually the city had to surrender to the French). Nowadays it is restored and a tourist attraction.
