Forest Landscape, Alexander Keirincx (1622)
Flemish painting is particularly well represented in the Schwerin art collections with genre paintings and landscape depictions. One of the outstanding landscape painters is Alexander Keirincx. The Forest Landscape, painted around 1622, is one of the most beautiful paintings by Keirincx. The strong colors and the idiosyncrasy of the tree giants, which always appear to be in motion, clearly refer to the early period of his mastery and his models Gillis van Coninxloo and Jan Brueghel the Elder. On the reverse, the Antwerp brand confirms the panel as a work from the master's early period.
