About ‘For a rainy day’ by Marjolein Overbeek

This artwork depicts an extraordinary scene that could easily have taken place in the 18th century: a young woman walking, barefoot, through the rain. Her dress is soaked, her hair tangled, but her posture radiates strength and determination. In her hand she holds a wig - the symbol of etiquette and outward appearance at the time. As if she is on her way to freedom, away from expectations and rules.

The maker has a great passion for making the power of 18th-century women visible. At the time, everyday moments like this were not recorded, let alone the resilience of women. Yet it was they who, often unnoticed, kept going their way, through all weathers. This painting is an ode to that indestructible strength: raw, pure and honest.

The work invites us to reflect on the beauty of the everyday and the strength of a woman who chooses her own path. That makes it timeless. Whether you hang it in a modern interior or a classically decorated room, it always brings a touch of history as well as a hefty dose of strength.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
