This photograph was taken in Amersfoort and shows a field full of flowering grass and wildflowers. A few spikelets are sharply visible in the foreground, while the background fades gently. A few yellow flowers stand out subtly among the grass, including a buttercup.
The shot was taken with a limited depth of field to bring calmness to the image and emphasise the contrast between sharp and out of focus. We worked with natural light, without post-processing, to capture the colours and atmosphere of the moment as purely as possible.
What fascinated me about this image is the layering of the field: the eye can wander between sharp and out of focus, and there is enough detail without being crowded. It is a typically Dutch piece of nature that many people casually pass by, but which has a lot to offer when standing still.
In an interior, this picture gives a calm, rural feel. The work fits well in bright rooms, or as a counterpart in a sleek interior. It is suitable for lovers of nature, simplicity and photography in which nothing is exaggerated.
