In cheerful yellow and red, with turrets, galleries and battlements, this is a castle from a fairy tale. This is the Palace of Pena, or the Palácio da Pena and it sits on a hill in Portugal. It was the summer palace of the Portuguese royal family and is located not far from the Portuguese capital of Lisbon. When we visit this fairy-tale castle, we have a beautiful blue sky after a foggy morning. The bright primary colors of blue, red and yellow contrast The gray stone of the details, all in natural stone, complete it. On top of the round yellow tower stands another smaller reddish, square tower. Around the towers you can walk behind parapets with high, angular battlements. In the distance to the horizon is a green landscape with trees and villages.
